My Classroom Website
mrsclarkpohlod.com

My class website is an integral part of my instruction, both in class and as a resource for parents and students outside of the classroom.  I use my website to post class notes, links, videos, assignments and much more.  I also post pictures of students and their work throughout my site.  My goal is to continue to use this site in my classroom instruction and to add more examples of student work in the future.

Classroom Twitter Feed
@mrscp207

I currently use Twitter in my classroom, as well as Remind101, to send notifications about tests and quizzes, homework, and other classroom details to my students and parent followers.  These have all been text-based messages to this point.  I plan to begin using Twitter in the coming months to send out pictures of the activities my students are doing in class to help give parents a better idea of what our classroom atmosphere is like.
Student Blogs

I started blogging with my students in the 2011-2012 school year.  I have found it to be a great tool in the classroom to give students an authentic audience for their writing.  We collaborate with many classrooms around the United States and I hope to expand to a global audience in the near future.

Student Websites (E-portfolios)

The students in my technology class this year (2012-2013) have been creating their own websites, using Weebly, to document and save their work.  I would love to expand this to all of my classes, but have not yet found a way to implement this.  Next year my students will all have a school-provided iPad.  At this time it is not possible to edit Weebly sites on the iPad, so I am looking into alternatives to begin e-portfolios on a larger scale in the future.

Genius Hour Projects

Students are given the opportunity to choose a topic they are passionate about to learn more about during school time.  I have done these types of projects with students in 4th, 6th, and 8th grade.  The power of Genius Hour continues to amaze me each and every time we do this with a group of students.  I love seeing the students truly excited about learning and discovery!  My 6th and 8th graders work on their projects throughout the term/trimester in my course.  In addition, my 8th grade students act as technology mentors and research assistants to 4th graders working on their own Genius Hour topics.
